Creative Wedding Gift Ideas

Wedding season is coming up and it is a beautiful time of the year. Families are being joined together, spring will begin to show the wonderful rebirth of life, and we can finally get rid of this cold weather. If you have friends or family getting married this year, you are going to be witness to one of the most important days of their life. They are going to try to soak up every moment that they can so they can cherish those memories for years to come. Just as you begin to get excited for them, you realize the big expectations that come with getting a gift for them for such a wonderful day.

Some people, like myself, get really stressed with shopping for the perfect wedding or engagement gift for them. I don't want to give them their fourth identical kitchen appliance off of their registry, only so they could take it back to the store. I want my gift to be unique and memorable. Other people, like my wife, take a lot pride in the gifts that they give. She puts a lot of time, thought, and love into deciding what gift will be given. We try to be creative, but if we are short on time we end up getting a gift off of the registry that they will inevitably return.

I'm writing this post to help all of you out that want to get something unique and creative for their friends or family. Of course, we'd love for you to get them a creative date (or three) from us. But there are other options as well. Here's a list of three creative gift ideas for that engaged couple you know:

  1. A bottle of wine for all of the major holidays as well as their anniversary and birthdays. Tie a note onto each bottle giving them marriage advice for their first year together.
  2. Find out where they are going for their honeymoon and pay for an excursion for them. Who doesn't like to get a fun surprise like a snorkeling trip or surfing lessons on their honeymoon?
  3. Plan a date for them yourselves. Find a band they really like and get them tickets to a concert with a gift card to a nice restaurant. Or buy them tickets to an exhibit or a theme park. Planning a fun date for them will give them memories that they will hold onto much longer than the blender that will be returned.

And if you don't want to plan your own creative date for them, you could always send them some pre-planned creative dates.
